Commune Magazine |
Our mission, the task, we have set for ourselves is a mission impossible. We have received calls, text messages and emails trying to find out why we did not partake in the frenzy and orgy of publishing all the sour and bad story of our communities, our jurisdiction. Our answer is simple, our mission is to provide alternative news platform for positive news of the communities, a life and style showcasing of incredible people living and shining in these communities. To move the spotlight away from the negative onto the side of positivity. The advantage of looking at the good in these communities is to light up the mind of the youth to what they can achieve, what could be followed and to what is possible. Highlighting the good will encourage more good and bring good to the community.
You may ask how that become a mission impossible? It is in human to gravitate toward bad news, little wonder why the news stand is full of horror news, the TVs filled with viewers discretion notice and the blogs over burden with lies. Our work have been cut out for us, bad news sells faster than the raging of an inferno but good news is unattractive. Good news attract less patronage. How do we sell our community good to ourselves, by ourselves and for our own benefit? With publishing being a capital intensive industry coupled with hyper commercialism, a business of self imposed community public relations is a business impossible.
Our first edition of Commune Magazine was published in limited copies in 2013 to test the waters. And the water was good and clean as a brook, we received kudos for the concept, the idea and product. And that is as far as we got, but we like it and appreciate it. In fact, it encourages us to move further with this social responsibility without advertisement and sponsorship prospects. We faced our mission's reality, we research options available. We expanded our network, we sort partnership, and we find alternative medium, which at that time we felt the communities were not ready for such innovation. But with constant check and evolution from our war room, we launch a beta version of our community magazine online dealing in community development, talent showcasing and personality profiling. And with limited budget, we were making impact, the community speak to us, not only did we receive commendation, we received advice, we were given promissory note of help.
The Passion and mission that seem impossible suddenly become possible at a cheaper cost than could be imagine at the initial stage, with better results. We launched Commune Magazine Online, www.communemag.blogspot.com in 2016 as a test platform and the journey so far as being great. We set pair review for every three months, we hope to make a final stand whether to continue online or forsake community magazine total in six months. As earlier noted, our work has being cut out for us. The reception, the cooperation and the followership surpassed our two years plan, projection and expectations. The only regret is why did it take us so long to set out on this commune journey.
In a short while, we will implement more far reaching project. We will work assiduously to become one of the mouth piece of these communities, we hope to be among pace setters and indeed among those who set agenda for community growth and development.
