Unlike any other day or things with the prefix - Black, Black Friday signifies unbeatable deals, unbelievable discounts and pocket friendly shopping experience from stores and retail outlets. According to Commune Magazine, CM findings, this year 2016 Black Friday comes up on November 25th. And, Nigeria retail stores led by the online retail outlets are ready to lure shoppers into a shopping frenzy with huge and fearsome discount promise.
Although, most main stream retail stores have not key into the opportunity to increase sales. Stores like SPAR is offering their customers a whopping 70% discount while stores in Shoprite will also be offer their customers nothing less 20% on their products. Also, stores in highbrow areas like Ikeja, Akoka, Bariga Gbagada, Victoria Island, Ikoyi etc will be offering Black Friday sales with attractive discount. However, the online retail stores lead the pack with his massive advertisement to encourage customers to shop on Black Friday from their respective stores. Konga tagged its Black Friday sales Yakata, onomatopoeia for abundant and cheap products at 90% discount. Jumia, the most visible among the online stores promises Black Friday shoppers 96% off for their twelve day of sales while Yudala guarantee 85% off.
The origin of Black Friday can be traced to Philadelphia sometime in the early 1960. In the United State, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, which is often the last Thursday of November of every year. For over 80 years, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of Christmas shopping. So go out on Friday 25th and begin your Christmas shopping. Let the Christmas shopping begins.
