The 4 weeks skill acquisition training organized by
Global life Changers outreach will start on the 7th of March 2016. The program
will equips prospective aspiring entrepreneurs with skills in different
vocations, which includes beads and wire works, photography, hair dressing,
event planning, makeup, web designing etc.
According to the director of the institute, Kingsley
Amaogaranaya it is the desire to empower people that brought them down to
Bariga. Commune Magazine asked the director a few questions about the Global
Life Change skull acquisition training
Why did you choose to come to Bariga?
We have the desire to impact the lives of people and
equip them with knowledge that can help them. We have been moving from area to
area, it is Bariga's turn. And this area could benefit from our program. Our
last program was in Surulere.
What is your
impression of Bariga vis-a-vis all the rumours you have heard about Bariga
communities?
So far so good, I think they are very industrious and
I can see a lot of artistic people around.
Getting the
skills is the first part, is there any plan to help those that will attend the
program in marketing their acquired skill?
What we do is to train them, we then follow them up.
If there is need for us to support the business, we offer support.
Enlighten us
on the operation of your cooperative?
After training, those that start the business we ask
them to be saving with us gradually. After 6 months, they can then take a loan from
us.
Is the
cooperative a different entity?
It is a separate entity with guaranty.
Negotiation
is important in business; do you teach them negotiation skill?
During the course of this program, we will have entrepreneurial
seminars, where experts will teach them negotiation, packaging and marketing
skills. These three things will help them go far because if you produce these
things and you don't package and market it very well then that business will
not grow.
How easy was
it getting a place to use?
We thank God for using Stock Bridge College. The
school found what we are doing good for the community.
Do you use
schools everywhere you go?
We use different systems depending on where we are. We
use churches, open place and any available place convenient for learning.
