Always informing the crowd of the postponement |
The Annual Bariga Boxing day has been postpone indefinitely,
the event which was scheduled to hold yesterday, February 28 at the CMS school
complex was moved to Akinola street – Oduse street junction due to the Lagos State
Government ban on the use of government school complex for social events. The organizers were setting up in readiness for
the commencement of the event, when, according to findings Eiye cult members
attacked an OPC member about two streets away from the emergence event venue. This brought out other OPC members in a
retaliation mission. But, the Nigeria Police from Bariga were quick to dowse
the tension.

gathered that the area have been under red alert for three consecutive days due
to fracas between cult groups in the area, this we learnt prompted the Police to ban public gatherings and
crowd events. Also, the Igunnuko festival 2016 scheduled for 27th
and 28th of February 2016 was also postponed indefinitely.

The Head coach of Always Boxing Club and a member of the planning committee for the
Boxing day, Tajudeen Adekunle said they were caught in the web of the insecurity
because they could not hold the event in the usually school complex, which is
easy to secure due to the government. “It is on the advice of the police that
we are postponing the event for security purpose, the new date will be
communicated to the public as soon as the security situation improves. “ He
said the Club outing on Saturday was successful as both fighters; Dayo Okelani
and Kabiru Towolawi won in their different category. It will be recall that bother
fighters were scheduled to fight in the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, LBHF. Find the
