Rilwan Lawal whose Boxing ring
name is Soja Boi has revealed to Commune Magazine , CM that he is prepared to break more records at
the 2016 Governor’s Belt coming up on the 26th of December, 2016 at
the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. He told CM in a Whatsapp chat that as a
first timer at the Governor’s Boxing Belt, he is prepared to set a new record
by winning the belt. “I am winning this fight as usual and I am bringing home
the Governor’s Belt. I will be the first soldier to win the Belt, so I am
breaking more records this time round.” He promised to bring to bear all his
previous boxing experience to the Governor’s Belt.
Soja Boi started his boxing
career from the Always Boxing Club before he joined the army. He is an
Ambassador of the Army. He has won and participated in many competitions in the
Lightweight category including the Military All African Game in Conakry, Guinea.
Undefeated Army Forces Champion since
2013, he will be representing the Nigeria Army at the Governor’s Belt.
He had his secondary education at
the Gbagada Senior Grammar School. He is a Qualified Basic Physical Training
Instructor in the Nigeria Army. All eyes will be on the boxer as he made his
debut at the Governor’s Belt. We asked him what his next after the Governor’s
Belt, “I am looking forward to National and African Championship.”
